Politics has become overly dominated by graduates, who increasingly only mingle with each other, says author. Academics should encourage their students to read tabloid newspapers and teach them that they are part of a “specific social milieu” of highly educated people, according to the co-author of a new book that argues that mass higher education has helped to open up a huge political and social divide in Western Europe.
